Richard J. DelFino, 37, is a lifelong resident of Johnston, and proud father of three boys, Richard, Luca, and Domenic. Richard still lives in the Simmonsville neighborhood of Johnston, where five generations of DelFino’s have lived and contributed to community.
Richard received his degree from Providence College and upon graduation went to work at his alma mater Bishop Hendricken High School. From there, Richard was offered a position in the
administration of Governor Lincoln Chafee, where he served as the legislative liaison. Richard continued in that position under the administration of Governor Gina Raimondo.
Richard was later appointed by Governor Daniel McKee as the Director of Municipal Affairs. In March 2023, Richard took a position as the Director of Community and Legislative Affairs at Tri-County Community Action Agency.
Richard was elected to the Johnston Town Council in 2014 serving two terms, representing the residents of Johnston’s District One. He still serves as an elected member of the Johnston
Democratic Town Committee.
Richard remains active in the community currently serving as the Chair of the Johnston/Smithfield Juvenile Hearing Board, member of the Roger Williams University Paralegal Advisory Board, on the Executive Board of Johnston Little League, Member of the Italo-American Club of Rhode Island, Vice-President of the Rhode Island Soccer Officials Association and volunteer youth sports coach for the Town of Johnston Recreation Department, coaching his three boys in various youth sports.
